Description
2205 Duplex Stainless Steel is a nitrogen-enhanced duplex grade stainless steel that combines the benefits of both austenitic and ferritic microstructures. With a balanced mix of chromium (22%), nickel (5–6.5%), and molybdenum (3%), this alloy provides outstanding corrosion resistance, especially to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion.
Offering twice the strength of 316L or 304 stainless steel, 2205 is widely used in demanding sectors such as offshore oil & gas, marine engineering, chemical processing, pulp and paper, and desalination plants.
It also exhibits good weldability and excellent fatigue strength, making it a top choice for pressure vessels, structural components, and tanks in aggressive environments.
