Description
17-4 PH Stainless Steel, also known as Grade 630, is a precipitation-hardened martensitic stainless steel known for its unique combination of high strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance. This alloy contains 17% chromium and 4% nickel, with copper and niobium (or columbium) to allow for age-hardening treatments.
Thanks to its ability to develop exceptional mechanical properties through heat treatment (conditions A, H900–H1150), 17-4 PH is used in demanding applications such as aerospace components, nuclear reactors, valves, shafts, and structural parts. It also maintains good corrosion resistance in harsh environments, similar to 304 stainless steel, while being significantly stronger.
It is magnetic, readily machinable, and suitable for both welding and forming, making it one of the most versatile high-performance stainless steels available.
