Description
AL‑6XN® stainless steel (UNS N08367 / Alloy 6XN) is a super-austenitic alloy developed for severe corrosion environments, especially those with high chloride content such as saltwater, brine, or bleach systems. With its high molybdenum (6.2%), nickel (24%), chromium (20%), and low carbon composition, AL-6XN offers outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking — outperforming 316L, 317L, and even some duplex grades.
It is the preferred material in marine, chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries where extreme corrosion and purity standards apply. AL‑6XN is also weldable, formable, and non-magnetic, making it ideal for pressure vessels, process piping, tanks, and pumps in critical operations.
